Key Metrics Explained
Cost Per Wallet (CPW)
Total KOL spend divided by the number of unique wallets acquired. The single most important metric for comparing KOL efficiency.
Conversion Rate
Wallet connects divided by clicks. Tells you how well the KOL's audience matches your target users—high clicks but low wallets means audience mismatch.
Wallet Quality
What percentage of connected wallets completed an on-chain action. High wallet quality means the KOL attracts real users, not just clickers.
ROI %
Revenue or value generated from on-chain conversions divided by KOL spend. The bottom-line metric that determines whether to re-book a KOL.
From Tracking to Attribution
This spreadsheet gets you started with manual KOL tracking. You log clicks and conversions by hand, compare performance, and make better decisions about who to re-book.
But manual tracking breaks down at scale. KOLs post at different times, audiences overlap, and users don't always convert in the same session they clicked. Attribution gets messy fast.
Web3 Trackers automates everything this spreadsheet does manually. It reads UTM parameters from KOL links, connects wallet activity to the original click, and attributes on-chain conversions—swaps, mints, transfers—back to each KOL automatically. No manual data entry, no stale numbers.
FAQs
What is a KOL in crypto marketing?
A KOL (Key Opinion Leader) is an influencer with significant reach in crypto communities—typically on Twitter/X, YouTube, or Telegram. Projects pay KOLs to promote tokens, dApps, or NFT collections to their audience.
How do I calculate KOL ROI for crypto campaigns?
Divide the value generated (e.g. new wallets × average deposit or mint revenue) by the total spend on that KOL. This template automates the formula so you just fill in spend and conversions.
What is a good cost per wallet (CPW) for crypto campaigns?
CPW varies widely by chain and campaign type. DeFi protocols on EVM chains typically see $5–$50 CPW. NFT mints can range from $2–$20. This template helps you benchmark your own CPW across KOLs.
Can I track on-chain conversions from KOL campaigns?
This spreadsheet tracks conversions you record manually. For automated on-chain attribution—linking a KOL's click to an actual swap or mint—you need a tool like Web3 Trackers that connects UTM data to wallet activity.
How many KOLs should I track at once?
Start with 5–10 KOLs per campaign wave. Fewer than 5 gives too little data to compare; more than 20 becomes hard to manage without automation. Scale up with Web3 Trackers when you outgrow the spreadsheet.
Ready to automate KOL attribution?
Stop copying numbers into spreadsheets. Web3 Trackers connects KOL clicks to on-chain conversions automatically—so you know exactly which influencers drive real results.
